A bit more than a year ago, I ran into 'Young' guitarist Jelle Wunderink via Youtube. I was already interested in young blues talent for some years. You know how it goes with musicians, you look and listen to them, and after a short time you have seen and heard if someone can play, someone can play good, or if someone has 'it'.
The latter was in the case of Jelle; I saw and heard it immediately, he has got it. In that time I was organising monthly jamsessions in Sittard for which I invited Jelle. A week later, there he stood after a ride of 230 kilometers, happy and smiling and ready to perform. That afternoon he played a fat Texas blues out of his Strat, the kind which put a smile on my face as a blues lover.
We stayed in touch and some months later I came in touch with Stijn and Lars Middelhuis via a musician site. Also young guys, very above averaged bass and drum player who were looking for a guitar player. Since they came from the east of the country, I immediately thought of Jelle. Well, 'snelle Jelle' saw his burning opportunity and joined them for a jam session. They jammed and jammed, and you know how it goes with musicians, you start making plans.
The result: NO KING. A short summery: PERFECT Dutch young blues musicians who produce a solid fat groove and who can interest the listener. Blues in the Netherlands has a future, the name: NO KING.
